March bullet journal spread

Mar 9, 2023 | Journals-Scrapbooks

March, is the month when spring finally begins! Also one of my favorite months since my birthday and my name day are in March. So let’s get organized together with this lovely March bullet journal spread.

Creating the March bullet journal cover page.

My vision for this cover page was a nice and vibrant pink background, that matches the spring mood.

Before I started painting I masked with washi tape the areas I wanted to protect from the ink.

Then with my ink blending tool, I started to add color.  At first, it will look patchy but as you go the color will blend.

I have to admit I actually liked the patchy look and for a moment I thought about keeping it. Maybe next time…

Then I proceeded to decorate the background with stamps. Since the centerpiece I am using for this spread is a green hot air balloon, I also used green ink for stamping to match.

I didn’t follow a pattern for stamping. Just stamp where you feel more comfortable.

Also, you don’t need to re-ink every time you stamp. If you ink the stamp once and then continue stamping with it you will get the same design with different intensities every time.

When my background was ready I added the embellishments. I wanted the whole dreamy-travel-spring mood so I chose clouds and a hot air balloon.

Even though the paper cut-out I used is adhesive, I preferred to glue all my die cuts with a tape roll. That way, when the month is done, I can use it for something else.

Lastly, I used the larger cloud to write the month on with a green marker.

Creating the calendar for the March bullet journal spread.

For my bullet journals, I usually prefer to create a monthly calendar instead of a daily one. But you can adjust this to your needs.

To give some color to the page, I painted a strip of paper with pink ink and added some decorative clouds.

If you don’t have too much time to create a cover page, you can use this strip of paper to write the month on.

To create the calendar I used a green marker to draw a grid with seven columns.

Each column has five rows of squares (approximately 3,5×4 cm or 1,37×1,57 inches) and a row of rectangles.

Lastly, to finish the calendar I wrote with a pink marker the days of the week and the dates.

Creating the grid for the calendar

Adding a “To do” page, an “Expenses” page, and a “Tracker” page to the bullet journal.

The most important page in a bullet journal is of course the calendar, but it is always nice to have a few more spreads.

Personally, I like to add a “To do” page, an “Expenses” page, and sometimes a “Tracker” page.

I started with the “To do” page. This was the most simple out of the three.

I just wrote with the green market I used before the page title and I added two clouds to make it look less empty.

For the clouds, I used a piece of scrap paper that I had die-cut the small cloud for the cover page.

With my blending tool, I colored the inside of the shape, like a stencil.

One note I have for this technique is that the scrap paper I used was a little bit small.

If you want to try it, it is better to use a piece at least a little bit bigger than your tool.

"To do" page and "Expenses" page

The next spread I use every month is the “Expenses” one. I like to keep notes of what I spend and then compare them with the Bank’s statement to make sure there are no mistakes.

With the pink marker, I used for the dates I marked three columns: the date of the expense, the amount, and the shop to which I made the purchase.

For the last spread, I added a “Tracker”. Usually, I am not a big fan of trackers, I find them boring and time-consuming.

Don’t make the mistake to think that a bullet journal has to have a tracker. It is entirely up to you and your needs.

Bullet Journal tracker

As far as I am concerned, I plan to use this as a pain tracker (I know it is not the cutest cause for a tracker, but it is very useful).

Since I had some problems with my back and sadly on March 1 I was in the hospital with gallbladder pain, I decided that a pain tracker could be useful.

I didn’t number the clouds, because I hope I will not be in pain every day of the month (hopefully).

The main idea is that every time I am in pain I write the date and the part of the body that aches.

You can very easily take this idea and transform it into a mood tracker for example.

You just write your emotions using words, instead of looking for colored markers every time you want to fill the tracker.

I think that method is more realistic to follow through because if a tracker is more complicated, there are more chances to give it up.

Materials I used to create the March bullet journal spread.

The main product I used for the focal point is Stamperia’s  CREATE HAPPINESS PINK DREAM Ephemera and CREATE HAPPINESS ELEMENTS Clear Stamps.

To stain the paper heart I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad SALTWATER TAFFY Ranger and for stamping I used the Stamperia Create Happiness TURQUOISE Dye Ink Pad.

For the clouds you can use any type of cloud shaped die or even cut clouds using a pair of scissors.  A very similar die to the one I used is Memory Box PUFFY CLOUDS Craft Die.

The two markers I used are Tombow’s No 192, Asparagus and Stabilo’s No88/49.

Lastly, the journal I used is Tsuki ‘Suzume’ Limited Edition Bullet Journal .
