Get inspired and get ready for Easter by learning how to make an Easter Bunny Card with Sizzix dies. 

Creating the bunny. 

I was so excited to make this card. When Sizzix ABSTRACT ELEMENTS dies were released, I felt so inspired and saw so much potential in those dies. But unfortunately, by the time the package came to me, I had a health problem and so little time that I couldn’t experiment with the different shapes. 

But now that Easter is near, I had to make this card! The bunny shape was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the dies, so it had to be the first card.

Since I wanted the bunny to be an off-white color, I started by painting my paper grey using watercolor pencils. After that, with a wet brush, I softened the lines.       

After that, I cut the shapes. I used the one that looks like a parallelogram with oval corners, the long tear-shaped one, the long one that looks like a leaf, and the one that is like a lace border (OK, I have a really hard time describing those shapes, but I hope you got the point, if not, don’t worry, there is a video).   

Making the Easter Bunny Card with Sizzix Dies.

For the card base, I chose to use craft cardstock. I think that the simplicity of brown craft paper really suits the card. 

Then I took a colored paper and trimmed it so that when I glued it in the center of the card, it looked like it was framed by the base paper. 

I chose a reddish-pink shade because I think red colors suit the Easter time really well, but at the same time, I didn’t want it to be too bright. 

The next step is to place all your die cuts on the card. For the bunny’s ears, I cut the leaf-shaped die cut in half and trimmed the edges a little bit to look like feet. 

Then I die-cut the letters. Of course, the message I am using is “Easter”.

I thought about adding a sticker saying “enjoy” or “happy” above the sentiment, but the result looked kinda odd, so I kept it simple. 

Now you can glue the bunny and the letters on the card.

Finishing touches for the card.

At this point, the card is starting to take shape. All it needs are a few finishing touches to make it look amazing. 

On top and on the bottom of the card, I glued the lace trimmings. You can glue them on all sides, but I thought two were enough.

Then, and this is my favorite part of the card, I glued the tail. 

I used a white pom pom for that, and I think it looks adorable! Another alternative is to draw a face and glue googly eyes on it. 

At this point, I felt that the card needed something to make it pop, so I used gold sequins here and there to give some glow to the card! 

With that the card is ready and it is very festive!

For the letters, I used the Tim Holtz Sizzix ALPHANUMERIC EMPORIUM Thinlits Dies and glued them using the Sakura QUICKIE GLUE ROLLER PEN.

As for the cardstock,  I used the Tim Holtz Idea-ology KRAFT STOCK STACK WARM Paper and for the base, you can use the Lawn Fawn PAPER BAG Cardstock, which has a similar look to the one I used.

Lastly, I got my embellishments from the local craft store.  For the tail, you can use White Craft Pom Poms and for sequins, you can use Pretty Pink Posh METALLIC GOLD CONFETTI.
