April bullet journal spread.

Apr 1, 2023 | Journals-Scrapbooks

April is here, and as we wait for the weather to get warmer and for the Easter Bunny to come, it is time to get organized! What better way to do that than creating this elegant April bullet journal spread?

Creating the April bullet journal cover page.

The inspiration for this journal was a floral washi tape I had bought a while ago but had yet to use. So I used it as a theme.

I used my alphabet dies to cut the letters for the word “April”. I also cut out some extra flowers from the washi tape to use as a décor.

If you don’t have dies, you can draw, with a pencil, the letters on the washi tape and cut them with scissors. But if you don’t like your handwriting, you can print letters, cut them and use them as a guide to draw the word.

Since the washi tape I am using has gold details, I decided to add some gold elements to my spread.

I used a stencil with vines, and I placed it underneath a piece of gold foil.

Then with my hot foil quill, I pressed hard on the shapes of the stencil to write the lines on the paper.

If you don’t have a hot foil quill, you can replace it with gold paint or a gold marker.

To be honest, the quill gives an impressive and shiny result, but it is also more troublesome, and sometimes the final product is a little uneven. It is up to you to decide what method works better for you.

Creating the calendar for the April bullet journal spread.

As I said before, for my bullet journals, I prefer to create a monthly calendar.

Each column has five rows of squares (approximately 3,5×4 cm or 1,37×1,57 inches) and a row of rectangles.

To write the days, I used again, the hot foil pen. Because I had less space to work with and I couldn’t secure the foil with tape, it was a little harder to write the words.

That is why, for the numbers, I chose a brown marker that matches the colors of the washi tape.

Lastly, I decorated the side of the calendar with a strip of washi tape.

And so fast and easily my calendar is ready, and my bullet journal is halfway finished.

Adding a “To do” page, an “Expenses” page, and a “Tracker” page to the bullet journal.

For my journals’ inserts, I used the same method. I cut the washi tape with alphabet dies to write the titles.

I decorated the “To do” list with flowers.

For the expenses page, I used again the beige marker for the lines and the brown one to write the three categories: amount-date-shop.

Later, because I thought it looked too bare, I added a strip of tape at the bottom of the page, and it instantly elevated the whole insert.

The last insert of this journal is the tracker. For this month, I chose to track my water consumption and how much I walk.

Since I realized I don’t drink enough water (I realized it the hard way, with some gallbladder stones), I made my goal to drink 7-8 glasses per day.

Also, because I wasn’t feeling so well this past month and I stayed at home a lot, I added a “walking” tracker to start exercising again with some mild activity. Maybe in the future, I will add something more intense.

For the trackers, I split the page in half. The left half was for drinking and the right one for walking.

Again I slit the two halves in half (basically, I created four columns) and then I draw fifteen lines.

I marked the height of the lines by counting every three dots.

Now for the “Water” tracker, you need to draw with a pencil three squares in every column (six in total in the line).

The first square stays as it is, and inside of it, you write the number of the date.

In the other two squares, you draw a cross in the center to create eight small parts. Each time you drink a glass of water, you paint a square.

The “walking” tracker is easier. All you have to do is mark the square of the date and leave the rest empty to write how long you walked, maybe how many steps you did, etc.

And with the trackers, the journal is now ready! It was really easy to make it, right?

Materials I used to create the April bullet journal spread.

The journal I used is the Tsuki ‘Suzume’ Limited Edition Bullet Journal, which  I love so much. It has great color, gold ends to the pages and most of all it has a very thick paper which allows me to use all kinds of media.

The most important part of the journal is the washi tape of course! For this, I used the lovely Champagne Floral Wide Washi Tape.

For the gold details, I used the We R Starter Kit Foil Quill Freestyle Pens (the set comes with three colors of foils).

I also used the Stamperia CREATE HAPPINESS WELCOME HOME LEAF PATTERN Stencil for the leaf details.

The markers I used are the 990-Light sand and the brown Stabilo No.88/89.

As for the dies, unfortunately, they are a little old so I am not sure about the brand. But you can get a very similar look with the Lawn Fawn COLE’S ABCs Lawn Cuts Dies.

Thank you so much for reading! Don’t forget to check out the March Bullet Journal Spread!
