The inspiration behind the Pink Embossed Floral Birthday Card.

I made this card in late March, for my amazing Mum’s birthday! She has been both an inspiration and support for this blog, especially because she runs her own popular blog for years, www.kopiaste.org (pay a visit if you want to learn delicious recipes).

Of course, I could not make a simple card for such an occasion! 

It had to be extra! 

Since her birthday is in late March and with the nice weather we had those days, I felt it needed to be spring-themed. Also, it was a good excuse to use my new floral embossing folder!

How to decorate the letters for the Embossed Floral Birthday Card.

I started by die-cutting the letters and embossing them together with the card base.

I embossed them at the same time because I wanted the embossed letters to fit perfectly on the card.

Also, it was a way to know where to glue the letters and keep them perfectly straight, with the right distance between them.

At first, I thought about making white letters on a white background card but then decided against that because it look too bland.

So I kept the embossed white paper for the second card and used the bright fuchsia pink for this one.

Next, I painted the flower details on the letters. I wanted something discreet for the letters, to add some shimmer to the card without being too intense.

For this, I chose pastel pearlescent paint. I also added a few touches of gold details, to make the card pop and be extra shinier.

I really like the difference the gold paint made, because while it gives some intensity to the card, at the same time it is not too much and matches perfectly with the pastel colors.

When the letters were ready, I added some foam tape on their backside, to make them pop out even more.

Then I aligned them on the card and glued them on the exactly matched embossed flowers.

Lastly, I added the word “Happy” which I die-cut from gold cardstock.

Because the letters are separate, I glued them together with washi tape, to remove them from the cardstock and keep them evenly apart.

I used white craft glue, to glue them on the card, and with a needle, I popped out the pieces inside the letters.

The first card is ready and by far one of my favorite ones!

How to make a simple birthday card with floral background.  

As I told you before, my first idea was to have a simple white background. Since I embossed the cardstock, I decided to make a second, simpler card.

For this card, I used green letters, without embossing them and gluing them with white glue.

Then I used again gold paper to glue the word “Happy”, but this time I placed it on the center of the card.

Lastly, I added a few die-cut flowers I had from another project and added a few adhesive dots in the center. The second card was so easy and fast to make.

Materials I used for the two Embossed Floral Birthday Cards. 

 For the pink card’s background and the flower embellishments, I used the WILD BERRY COLOR ESSENTIALS CARDSTOCK.

For the floral background, I used Spellbinders’ FLOWER FRENZY 3D EMBOSSING FOLDER and the BE BOLD COLOR BLOCK HAPPY BIRTHDAY ETCHED DIES.

The paints I used are Pentart’s pearl paints. To be honest I am not sure those are available internationally. But a very similar alternative is this Color Set of Iridescent Acrylic Paint. 

For the letters on the second card I used the FERN COLOR ESSENTIALS CARDSTOCK and for the light pink flowers I used the PINK SAND COLOR ESSENTIALS CARDSTOCK. 

For die-cutting the flowers I used the UMBRELLA BLOOM ETCHED DIES and in the middle, I added adhesive dots. The ones I used I bought them a long time ago, but there are many similar ones like the FASHION TAUPE COLOR ESSENTIALS PEARL DOTS.
