Choosing the background for my Very Easy Christmas Cookies Card

I started by choosing the background for my Very Easy Christmas Cookies Card.

My Stamperia’s paper pad offers so many beautiful options.

I chose the one with the Christmas cookies on it because I found it very Christmassy and cheerful.  

Also, when I saw this paper I immediately thought of my mother, who loves to cook and who makes tasty treats every day. So I’m sure she will love to get this card, with her gift.

After choosing the paper I will use, I placed my folded cardstock base on it and traced the outline. I cut it using my paper trimmer because I wanted it to be perfectly straight. 

If you don’t have a paper trimmer, use your scissors or an Exacto knife with a ruler, to help you cut a perfect line.

Choosing the centerpiece. 

Now that the background is ready, it is time to find the ideal centerpiece of it. For my Very Easy Christmas Cookies Card, I chose this adorable little girl, who makes cookies, because it coordinates beautifully with the main theme.  

After cutting the centerpiece card, I placed it on my background paper and traced the outline. 

This part of the paper won’t be visible, so there is no point to waste patterned paper. I plan to cut off that piece of paper and use it in another project.

Personally, I used square dies to do this, because I didn’t want to use the Exacto knife.  

Adding a third layer on the card

Even though I loved the papers I chose, I felt that my card needed some shine. So I found a scrap piece of gold cardstock that was perfect for this. 

I didn’t want my card to be too gold, so I just traced a thin border on the sides and above my centerpiece. 

After that, I glued my pieces together with double sides tape. 

Decorating the interior 

Technically, at this point my card is ready. But I thought it would be cute to add some gingerbread men cookies on the inside, so I die cut some, using a scrap brown paper, and glued them with my glue pen. 

 If you don’t have a similar die, don’t worry. At the end of the paper pad, you will find many different embellishments to cut out. You can choose the cookies or even the candy canes. 

Materials I used 

You won’t need many supplies for this card. The main thing you’ll need is Stamperia’s Classic Christmas 6×6 paper pad. 

If you don’t have a paper trimmer and thinking about investing in one, I highly suggest the one I used for this project, the Tim Holtz Tonic Maxi Guillotine Comfort Paper Trimmer.

For the gingerbread cookies, I used my Tim Holtz Sizzix Retro Oven Thinlits Dies and glued them on with my Sakura Quickie Glue Pen.

The gold paper I used is not of a specific brand, just some paper I bought from the bookstore. You can get a very similar result with the Tonic INCA GOLD Mirror Card Iridescent Cardstock.
