What could be more romantic than sending your love to someone with a handmade card, especially if it is crafted using elegant die cuts and paper from Stamperia? With this easy Romantic Valentine’s day card, you can express your love on any occasion.

Choose the elements of your Romantic Valentine’s day card.

To decorate the background, I chose a vintage manuscript.

The main idea of this card is that the book refers to a love story, so the manuscript background matches beautifully with the theme.

For the base, I used an A4 beige cardstock folded in half.

I traced it on the scrapbook paper to know where to cut it, then trimmed the excess paper using my guillotine machine. If you don’t have one, you can use a pair of scissors.

To create the focal point of my card, I used Stamperia’s adhesive paper cutouts for journaling.

Since I wanted to match the love story theme, I used a book as a centerpiece, which coordinates perfectly with the background paper.

The best thing about this card is that you don’t need any die-cutting machine to make it.

Also, you can use this design for any occasion, not only for Valentine’s Day. You can very easily change the sentiment to make it a birthday card or any type of greeting card.

Create a heart for the Valentine’s theme design.

At this point, the basic design for my card is ready. But, to give it a more romantic Valentine’s feel, I added a heart to it.

For this, I used a piece of leftover paper. Since I didn’t want to use any die-cutting machine, I designed the heart using a pencil. 

Because I used the same paper as the background, the heart wasn’t very visible, so in order to make it pop, I stained it using inks.

I chose purple/pink shades to match the flowers, although you could also use light green or brown shades to match the other elements of the card.

To give more dimension to the perimeter of the heart, I used a light brown watercolor pencil to shade the edges. I also added some strokes of color to the inner part of the shape.

 Even though my heart was starting to take shape, I felt something was missing from the design. And then it hit me, it needed some glitter!

I decided to use two shades, white and dark pink. I applied glue to the perimeter of the heart using a glue pen and then sprinkled the glitter on top.

Additionally, I added some glitter to the inner part of the heart for extra sparkle.

Assemble the Romantic Valentine’s day card

Now that I decided what elements to use, it is time to assemble the card.

For this, I used my go-to method, double-sided tape, to stick the background paper to the base paper.

Then, I carefully found the center of the card to place the book.

Keep in mind, that even though the die cuts I used are stickers, I used adhesive tape to glue them, because I wanted the edges of the shapes to be freer and not completely glued on the paper.

For the flowers, because I wanted them to stand out more, I used foam tape to attach them.

Lastly, I added the message. I had some die-cut chipboard from some older Stamperia collection.

If you can’t find the same product, you can use different alternatives.

For example. you can stamp your message to cardstock and then glue it or you can even use a label maker.

Materials I used to create the Romantic Valentine’s day card.

The two main Stamperia’s products I used are  Stamperia ROSE PARFUM Backgrounds 12×12 Paper  and Stamperia CREATE HAPPINESS PINK DREAM Ephemera.

To stain the paper heart I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad VICTORIAN VELVET Ranger and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad SALTWATER TAFFY Ranger.

For the watercolor pencils, I used Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils SET 3 Ranger.

To glue the glitter I used Sakura QUICKIE GLUE ROLLER PEN. For the glitter, even though I did not use those particular brands, very similar colors to those I used are the Couture Creations ROSE Mix And Match Glitter Powder  and Simon Says Stamp UNICORN DUST Glitter Jar.
