Nothing gets you into the holiday spirit like crafting a Christmas card! This Waterfall Flip-Book Christmas Card is the perfect way to spread Christmas joy.

Creating the Waterfall Flip-Book Christmas Card.  

This year, I decided to try something a little different: an interactive flip-book style card that tells a tiny Christmas story.

The card is built around a sweet little scene of two mice decorating their Christmas tree.

For this I needed three frames. In the first frame, the tree starts out bare, with our tiny heroes hard at work.

One mouse is balancing the star at the top, while the other is adding a garland. It’s so simple and sweet, and I love how much personality those little critters bring to the card.

Next, we move to the second frame, where the tree is starting to shine. The star and garland are all set, and now it’s time to add some red ornaments.

The mice are still at it, looking busy and determined—it’s teamwork at its finest!

Then comes the big finale: the fully decorated tree, complete with ornaments, garland, and even gifts all around the base.

It’s a real showstopper, like the moment when everyone gathers around the Christmas tree to admire their hard work. It feels so festive, and I can’t help but smile every time I flip through the frames.

I chose to make each frame a little longer than the next,in order to hide the next scenes. That is a personal preference, you can just cut everything the same size.   

Bringing everything together.

Now, let’s talk about the background. I decided to create my own patterned paper.

Using a stencil, I made bold green stripes that remind me of green peppermint candies.

They’re festive and add just the right touch of texture without stealing the spotlight from the tree.

To pull everything together, I used the Flippin’ Awesome mechanism, which is honestly a game-changer for making cards like this.

It made the whole process of assembling the frames and adding movement super smooth.

Since my frames are a little long, I used an extension on the mechanism’s pull tab.

Once everything was in place, I attached it to the card base, and voilà—the perfect interactive Christmas card was born.

I love how this project combined crafting with a bit of storytelling. Each flip feels like a new chapter, and the interactive element makes it such a joy to share with friends and family

Materials I used for the Valentine’s Card. 

I had such a great time creating this card! I incorporated various Lawn Fawn dies to bring it to life. For the tree, I used the build-a-christmas tree die and I used the cute mice from the merry mice stamp set and the matching dies.

For the background I used the peppermint stripes stencils with the Tim Holtz Distress Mini Ink Pad Old Paper.

To make the mechanism for the flip-book  I used the flippin’ awesome die.

Lastly, to color the card’s elements I used Ohuhu Kaala Slim Broad and Fine Dual Tips Alcohol Art Markers.
