Imagine your best friends just got married, and you want to congratulate them in a special way. Well, here’s a cool idea – a handmade wedding slider card!

Don’t you just love weddings? A happy day, celebrating the love of two of your friends!

One of my dearest friends recently got married, and I wanted to make a really nice card for her.

It’s a blend of surreal and exhilarating emotions when someone you’ve known your whole life takes this monumental step. Especially since she was the first one of my friends that got married.   

Naturally, I wanted to craft an extraordinary card, something that would serve as a cherished keepsake of their special day.

Firstly, I started by cutting and coloring clouds in a soft pink color.

I envisioned three rows of cascading clouds in a soft, pink hue, harmonizing beautifully with the card’s background and creating a romantic ambiance fitting for this celebration.

Originally I planned for a gentle pink, but later I decided to make it more vibrant.

Next up, it was time to stamp and die-cut the figures. Oh, how adorable they looked riding that bicycle together!

To give the bicycle a touch of glamour, I used a metallic marker, giving it a subtle shine.

Since this was a wedding card, I aimed for a serene, romantic color palette that would evoke a sense of calm and happiness.

For the groom, I chose a light pink shirt, accompanied by dark grey pants and a bowtie, seamlessly blended with the elegant dark brown hair and a dapper top hat adorned with a matching pink ribbon – it was all about sophistication.

Now, let’s turn our attention to the radiant bride, the focal point of every wedding.

I opted to color her hair with a slightly reddish brown palette, setting her apart from the groom.

Be sure to apply the strokes in a direction that mimics the natural flow of hair.

Of course, her wedding dress remained dazzling white, but I couldn’t resist adding a touch of magic.

A pearlescent white paint transformed her dress and veil into shimmering wonders that caught the light, creating a mesmerizing effect.

When it came to the flowers, my initial plan included both pink and light orange hues.

However, the orange felt a tad too intense, so I layered it with the pink marker, achieving a lovely blend that still retained a hint of that lovely orange shade.

Finally, a dash of paint for the tin cans, and all the pieces were ready to come together.

I assembled the pieces and fine-tuned their placement by carefully trimming certain areas with scissors. This ensured that the bride and groom could comfortably share the bicycle.

At this stage, my card’s centerpiece looked splendid, but I wanted it to be sturdier since it was a slider card.

To achieve this, I glued the figures onto cardstock and meticulously trimmed away any excess paper with my trusty X-Acto knife.

Now, the happy couple felt secure as they glided along my card.

For the background, I selected a delightful paper adorned with hearts – after all, love was in the air!

I die-cut the slider and carefully adhered the additional paper to the background.

The die I used has a fun curve, which I found it fitting, as marriage has its ups and downs, doesn’t it?

To ensure the slider could move smoothly, I attached two layers of foam tape to the sides, with extra support pieces in the middle.

Then I carefully affixed the slider piece to the back. Between the two paper layers, I inserted two identical coins (I initially used one, but it didn’t quite meet my standards, as it wasn’t provided enough support).

These coins also helped press the die-cut paper until it perfectly adhered to the background.

With a small piece of foam tape on each coin, I placed the bicycle on top of them. Given the card’s elongated design, I positioned one coin in the middle and one at the front, allowing them to navigate the curves effortlessly.

And voilà, the slider was ready, a delightful and fun surprise!

All that remained was to add a heartfelt sentiment. Considering the busy pattern of the paper I had used, I decided to stamp the message on the clouds. There was a slight mishap – I accidentally smudged the still-wet ink with my hand after a perfect stamping attempt. Oh, the heartbreak I felt in this one!

So, with determination (even though it was already late in the evening and I had been working on the card for quite some time), I recreated it. And you know what? It turned out just as splendid! Crafting comes with its fair share of setbacks, after all.

Finally, I positioned the clouds in front of the couple, creating the illusion that they were soaring on cloud nine from sheer joy.

To allow for a bit of movement, I added two extra strips of double-sided tape on the clouds and two more on the bottom of the page (basically, if it touched clouds, it needed four rows of double-sided tape).

If, at this point, you happen to notice any minor imperfections, like slightly crooked paper, resist the urge to fix them! The foam tape is too thick to trim neatly, as I learned the hard way.

The following day, I decided to add some strips of leftover paper to the sides of the card, effectively concealing the foam tape. It’s an optional step but adds that extra touch of finesse if you’re up for it.

And there you have it – your masterpiece of a card is ready! What a delightful gift it will make for the happy couple, capturing the essence of their special day in a truly unique way.

Materials I used for the Wedding slider card. 

I painted the bicycle by using the lovely rose gold pen Faber Castell Metallics, copper cabana.

Also, I used  Tombow Dual Brush Pens to draw the figures. For the rest of the bicycle’s parts I used the 992-Sand.

To color  the groom, I used the N55-Cool Gray 7, 990-Light Sand, 761-Carnation and lastly the 899-Redwood.

For the bride I used the colors 942-Cappuccino and 947-Burnt Sienna. You will also need some white metallic acrylic paint.

Lastly, for the tin cans I used the N89-Warm Gray 1 and for the flowers I used the 020-Peach and the 772-Dusty Rose.

To decorate the background I used papers from the Paper sweet paper crush paper pad. It is a lovely pad and I really liked the designs it has. If you don’t have this specific set ,don’t worry. There are many lovely paper sets with hearts pattern you can use.

 To create the main focal point of the card I used Lawn Fawn’s bicycle built for you stamp set with coordinating dies and for the slider I used coaster critters slide on over add-on.

For the clouds I used Whimsy Stamps GRASS AND CLOUD EDGER Die Set. 

To paint the clouds I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad SALTWATER TAFFY Ranger and to stamp the sentiment I used Tim Holtz Distress Mini Ink Pad BLACK SOOT Ranger.
