Create this fun and easy Valentine’s day postcard to send to your other half.

Creating the background and the sentiment.

Even though during major holidays we think about gifting our loved ones cards, we rarely think to send or give them a postcard written with a lovely message.

So I decided to change that, and make one myself. But if you feel more comfortable sending a card, you can easily transform it by gluing it to a folded cardstock.

The best thing about this Valentine’s postcard is that it is so easy to make.

To create the background you will need a large washi tape.

I chose this lovely polka dot washi tape and created the whole theme around it.

After you stick the washi tape on the paper you might notice that you can see the line where the two pieces of washi meet. Don’t worry about that, because we will strategically put our elements on top of it to cover it.

For the sentiment, I used a die of the phrase “Happy Valentine’s Day. Originally I chose orange paper to match the dots on the background. But when I saw it it seemed too orange.

So I used red ink to darken it a little bit. It really made the letters pop from the background.

Adding embellishments to the Valentine’s day postcard.

After creating the background it is time to decorate the postcard!

I wanted to add some shine, but I didn’t want to add glitter (shocking, I know), so I used some gold thread around the card.

If you plan to send this as a postcard you can either write the address on a sticker and glue it on top or make sure the space where you write the address is clear from the thread.

I also wanted to add different-sized circles. I believe they make the card look so playful. I die-cut mine, but if you don’t have a machine, do not worry you can use a compass or coins in different sizes, to make your circles.

Lastly, there wouldn’t be a Valentine’s postcard without a happy couple.

I cut my washi tape figures and glue them at the edge of the card.

Keep in mind that because it is washi tape, you will be able to see the thread underneath.

I didn’t mind, but if you don’t want that, you can glue your washi tape on white cardstock and then cut the figure and glue it on the postcard.

Materials I used to create the Valentine’s day postcard.

The main two things you will need for this card are the washi tapes.

I used the “Moment In Time Wide Washi”  and the “Polka Dot Wide Washi Tape”.

The papers I used for the circles are from The Paper Boutique Sunset Bouquet collection.

For the gold thread, I used a spool I bought at the local craft shop. Any thread will do.

Of course, to make a postcard you will need matching paper.  I used the Winsor & Newton Classic Watercolor Paper Postcard.

Lastly the ink I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad LUMBERJACK PLAID.

Sadly I can’t find the die I used. But there are so many Valentine’s stamps and dies you could use to write your romantic message.
